My practice involves the found image and its subsequent translation into painting.

I enjoy the process of painting and especially the immediacy of acrylics, as it allows me to re-present images that we may have seen before, within a new and exciting arena.

Working predominantly from photographs and magazines, my subject matter focuses on people, depicting them sometimes as a form of social commentary, other times presenting them exactly as they are, for the viewer to imbue with their own ideas. Recycling imagery is important to my general concerns, as there already exist so many undervalued images which haven’t yet been fully explored.

My three years at Chelsea College of Art and Design have allowed me the time I needed to begin to experiment with the flat image. I am developing a style that is realistic, while drawing correspondences between consumer culture and traditional images from the past.
